Juneteenth Celebration 2025

Our Juneteenth Creative Arts Celebration 2025 at BRIC in downtown Brooklyn was special. The gathering stirred memory, sparked imagination, and deepened our commitment to freedom — not just as a historical moment, but as something we live, breathe, and continue to build together. Kinetic Sessions: Where the Mic Drops

Where the Mic Drops is Kinetic’s Open Mic & Mixer series—convened in a Brooklyn brownstone, it is an intimate, curated gathering where art moves beyond performance. Each event brings together an open mic, a featured performing artist, and a conversation with an invited creative in a space designed for intentional connection—so art can do what it does best: tell the truth, deepen community, and shape culture.     ODANE Whilby

    Soulful and unapologetically real, Odane blends gospel, alternative, and pop rock into a sound that moves, inspires, and lifts the spirit. Bronx-based singer and songwriter, and founder of theOLOGY, he has been building a community of Christian artists, Grammy-nominated talent, and bold creatives for over 8 years.

    KAIRA Hassell

    Kaira is a singer, songwriter, and producer blending soulful vocals with modern R&B. She was previously signed to Death Row Records, where she worked closely with Dr. Dre in developing records. Moving between Los Angeles and New York, she creates music across both the artist and sync worlds, while building ARkaiVE, a platform rooted in music, history, and education. Grounded in her faith, Kaira is a believer in Christ and leads with intention in both her life and sound.

    DEXTER Birk

    Dexter Birk has begun to make his mark on the NYC music scene as performer and music director. Originally from Chicago, Dexter began his career participating in countless regional and national jazz ensembles and is currently under the tutelage of Jeremy Manasia and John Benitez at the Manhattan School of Music. Having received a scholarship to study in NYC, Dexter is now performing and recording regularly with notable artists such as saxophonist Bernell Jones II and vocalists Nali, Jordan Curls, Rapper Kaicrewsade and more. Most recently Dexter was a featured solo performer at the Millennium Park Stage for the Chicago Jazz Festival in a tribute to legends of jazz that passed away in 2023. Other performers sharing the stage were Kenny Garrett, Billy Hart and Kris Davis. DEXTER is set to release his debut single "Moonbeams", a project featuring Sarahfina Osei on vocals this year.

    VICTORIA

    Singer-Songwriter, Rapper, and Violinist originally from the Bronx, New York. Victoria’s creative style is nuanced with tones of influence ranging from Rock, Reggae, Salsa, and a sound she describes as “Dark R&B” 

    Affirming the concept of “la mala,” which in translation means “the bad girl,” Victoria applies this term to her approach in art as in life. 

    The “Mala ” mindset is liberation. The framework sets the tone for Victoria’s artistic freedom of expression on her terms and the empowerment of walking one’s own path boldly.

  • GERVIS Myles

    Gervis Myles is a bassist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a 2020 graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he studied under Peter Dominguez. Now based in New York City, he has quickly become an in-demand presence across the modern jazz and creative music scenes.

    Myles has performed with Frank Lacy, Joe Farnsworth, Peter Evans, Mark Shim, Nasheet Waits, Mike Mitchell, Jason Linder, and Nate Wood, and appeared in productions such as the Tony Award–winning musical Hadestown. His versatility extends to collaborations with the Ndlovu Youth Choir and a growing range of projects that blur the lines between jazz, improvisation, and contemporary Black music.

    Rooted in deep groove and open curiosity, Myles continues to develop a sound that’s as grounded as it is exploratory.

    SERAIAH Nicole

    Seraiah Nicole is an award winning international performing artist born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ms. Nicole’s art is a fusion of jazz, spoken word, gospel and soulful vocals that speak truth to power. 

    Delivering vitalizing vocals, powerful poetry & passionate interactive performances. Sharing stages with Sam Smith, Sonia Sanchez, Maui The Writer, AJ McQueen, LA Russell, Sa-Roc, DMC of RUN DMC,  Kid N Play, Jeffrey Osborne, Frankie Beverly & Maze and working with the likes of the Philadelphia 76ers, Phillies, PGA, PBS, WHYY, Urban Outfitters, WURD, WRTI, 100.3 RNB & Rec Philly to name a few. 

    The singer/songwriter states "The creator of all things, God, has given gifts to us all. 

    It is my duty to use my gift to acknowledge God & encourage the world."

    ROCC Sturdy

    Josh Farrell, aka Rocc Sturdy, is a Brooklyn-based drummer born in St. Thomas, USVI, known for his dynamic feel, versatility, and high-level live performance. He has toured extensively across Europe and throughout the U.S., performing on the jazz scene as well as with the band Stolen Gin. Releasing music under his artist name, Rocc Sturdy continues to build his sound. You can catch him every Friday at The Birds in the West Village.

    JSWISS

    Called a “gifted storyteller” by Chuck D of Public Enemy, JSWISS is a Dobbs Ferry native and global emcee known for sharp lyricism, soul, and unmatched versatility. From stages like The Apollo and Blue Note to performances across Japan, the UK, France, and Australia, his voice travels far and hits deep.

    His track UNDEFEATED with Nate Smith lives on a GRAMMY-winning album, and his latest project You Never Really Know was named one of the 100 best albums of 2024 by KEXP listeners.
